Portraits 2024: from 17 July to 8 August in Monopoli

The Ritratto Festival turns twenty, the international Monopoli music festival directed by Antonia Valente and created together with Massimo Felici, scheduled from 17 July to 8 August with concerts, two exhibitions, 4 talks, two evenings dedicated to the Ritratto Prize, the Ritratto Express, the usual Kids Lab and two new Favole Musicate events. A festival with an itinerant character, Rirati confirms for this edition its link with the territory with the choice to explore its views, squares, historic buildings, natural scenarios and its most disruptive architecture as a stage for its artists. The theme chosen for the busy program of concerts, extraordinary openings and exhibitions in the most evocative places of the Monopoli municipality, in natural sequence with the magical act of "stopping time" celebrated with the last edition of the Festival, is Forever Young. In this special anniversary Rirati wants, in fact, to celebrate the idea of eternal youth and pay homage to the main ingredient of creative imagination: the infantile imagination, a world of impetus without borders and inhibitions, which embraces within itself the freedom of expression, the taste for the absurd, the utopia of the surreal, the creation of new worlds.

To anticipate the start of the show, there will be two previews. The exhibition "The body and time" by Andreas Senoner, organized in collaboration with Doppelgaenger, opens on 5 July. A meeting with the artist is scheduled for 6.30pm at the Rendella Terrazza Food Lab Library, while the vernissage of the exhibition is scheduled for 7.30pm at the Church of Sant'Angelo. And on Saturday 6 July (starting at 9.00 pm) the Puccini 100 concert is scheduled in the churchyard of the Cathedral Basilica of Monopoli, a tribute to the Italian composer considered one of the greatest and most significant opera composers of all time one hundred years after his death, which will inaugurate Notti on the churchyard.
