Journalists Giorgino and Travaglio open “Prospero Fest 2024”
On Sunday 16 June at 7pm, the journalist Francesco Giorgino, well-known face of the 8pm TG1 until 2022 and Director of the Rai Studies Office from 2023, will open the 2024 edition of Prospero Fest, the event promoted by the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Monopoli, which will be held from 16 to 21 June 2024 at the ancient port of Monopoli (free entry).
At Prospero Fest there will be a conversation entitled "Information in the digital age. How communication is changing" focused on the present and future of this world, on the risks linked to fake news and on the new face of news and communications, increasingly remote and increasingly silent. Dialogue with the author Mario Valentino.
This will be followed at 9pm by the presentation of the book "Israel and the Palestinians in a nutshell" with the journalist and writer Marco Travaglio: a clear and neutral reconstruction of the history of the conflict which, for centuries, has shocked the populations of the Middle East and has become forcefully relevant again in these months. Moderated by Sergio Rizzo.
The writer Luca Bianchini will open the events of Monday 17 June at 7 pm with the presentation of the book "The heart is a gypsy", a gripping novel set between Polignano and Alto Adige which tells the misadventures of Marshal Gino Clemente, transferred from his beloved Puglia in Bressanone. He will dialogue with the author Manuela Lenoci. At 9pm there will be a presentation of the book by journalist Lino Patruno for his Learn from the South. Development lesson for Italy", an analysis of the South's ability to do more with less, proving itself to be a solution and not a problem. Moderated by Viviana Tanzariello.
Tuesday 18 June at 7pm continues with the presentation of the book "I'm still waiting for someone to apologize to me" by the philosopher and writer Michela Marzano, who will discuss the effects of the #metoo movement and the courage of women to report the violence they have suffered. Dialogue with the author Loredana Ratti. Following at 9pm, the former magistrate Gherardo Colombo presents “Anti-Constitution. How we have rewritten (for the worse) the principles of our society", with which the author provocatively reinterprets some of the main articles of our constitutional charter. Moderated by Giancarlo Fiume.
The presentation of the book "Inside the palace. What really happens in the halls of power" will be held on Wednesday 19 June at 7pm with the Italian economist and politician Carlo Cottarelli who provides a photograph of our institutions and tells, with irony and anecdotes, what it really happens in the halls of power. Dialogue with the author Stefania Allegretti. Following this, at 9pm, the philosopher Umberto Galimberti will entertain the audience of the Prospero Fest with a lectio magistralis entitled "In dialogue with Plato on the things of love". On Thursday 20 June at 7pm the Chief Prosecutor of the Palermo Prosecutor's Office Maurizio De Lucia will be at Prospero Fest to present the book “The Capture. The mysteries of Matteo Messina Money and the changing mafia", the live story of the arrest of the boss and an investigation into the secrets of the mafia of yesterday and today.
